Abstract
In previous work we proposed a field theory model for multiple M2-branes based on an algebra with a totally antisymmetric triple product. In this paper we gauge a symmetry that arises from the algebra's triple product. We then construct a supersymmetric theory with no free parameters that is consistent with all the continuous symmetries expected of a multiple M2-brane theory: 16 supersymmetries, conformal invariance, and an SO(8) R-symmetry that acts on the eight transverse scalars. The gauge field is not dynamical. The result is a new type of maximally supersymmetric gauge theory in three dimensions.

Interpreting the M2-brane Action

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the effective world-volume theory on the D2-branes has Yang-Mills coupling proportional to the radial coordinate; furthermore the radial coordinates satisfy free field equations of motion.

Classifying Superconformal Defects in Diverse Dimensions Part I: Superconformal Lines

TL;DR: In particular, the authors showed that modified Ward identities of conserved currents in the presence of the defect induce a distinguished set of conformal primary operators on the defect worldvolume, which includes the universal displacement operator associated with broken translations transverse to the defect.

(1,0) superconformal theories in six dimensions and Killing spinor equations

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived the conditions on the fields imposed by the Killing spinor equations and demonstrated that these depend on the isotropy group of the killing spinors, and showed that many models admit string and 3-brane solitons as expected from the Mbrane intersection rules.

Holographic entanglement entropy from probe M-theory branes

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compute the holographic entanglement entropy contribution from planar two-dimensional defects in six-dimensional superconformal field theory, holographically dual to probe M2 and M5-branes in AdS7 × S4.

Superconformal Chern-Simons theories

TL;DR: In this paper, a Lagrangian description of a maximally supersymmetric conformal field theory in three dimensions was constructed recently by Bagger and Lambert (BL), which has SO(4) gauge symmetry and contains scalar and spinor fields that transform as 4-vectors.

N = 8 Superconformal Chern--Simons Theories

TL;DR: In this paper, the possibilities for constructing Lagrangian descriptions of three-dimensional superconformal classical gauge theories that contain a Chern-Simons term, but no kinetic term, for the gauge fields are explored.
