Genetic polymorphism detection of two α-Casein genes in three Egyptian sheep breeds

TLDR
This study aimed to detect the genetic polymorphism of as1- and as2-Casein genes in three native Egyptian sheep breeds; Rahmani, Barki and Ossimi using PCR-SSCP and PCR-RFLP and revealed the presence of a single nucleotide polymorphism (A fi G) in intron 6 of as 2-CN gene.

Genetic Variations of Two Casein Genes among Maghrabi Camels Reared in Egypt

TL;DR: The genetic characterization of genes associated with milk yield and composition in camel is considered an essential step towards its genetic improvement through the selection of superior animals depending on the favorable alleles and genotypes; marker assisted selection (MAS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the SLC27A3 Gene on the Nutritional Value of Sheep Milk.

TL;DR: It is concluded that milk from animals with TT genotype in the SNP4 locus was characterised by higher fat and dry matter content and lower lactose concentration, compared to sheep with AA and TA genotypes, respectively.

Single and combined effects of CSN1S1 and CSN2-casein genes on Awassi sheep milk quantity and quality

TL;DR: In this article , the influence of alpha S1 and beta-casein (CSN2) genes genotypes interaction on Awassi ewes milk productivity was assessed. But no association was found among CSN1S1 polymorphic genotypes with milk production, lactose, and solid not fat (SNF) % were associated with TC CSN 1S1 genotypes.

Alpha S1-casein genetic variations in Bulgarian sheep breeds and significance on milk casein fractions

TL;DR: Gencheva et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the effect of a particular genotype on the casein content and distribution of milk fractions in Bulgarian sheep by means of the PCR-RFLP analysis in two sheep breeds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic evaluation of Teleorman Black Head ewes using genes polymorphism for improving milk traits

TL;DR: To detect CSN3, PRL and BLG polymorphisms, genomic DNA was isolated from blood samples collected from 50 ewes and identified two genotypes (CC and CT), the most frequent being CT genotype (94%).

A simple salting out procedure for extracting DNA from human nucleated cells

TL;DR: A rapid, safe and inexpensive method was developed to simplify the deprotein-ization procedure that yielded quantities comparable to those obtained from phenol-chloroform extractions, rendering the entire process of RFLP analysis free of toxic materials.

Specific Enzymatic Amplification of DNA In Vitro: The Polymerase Chain Reaction

TL;DR: An alternative method for the synthesis of specific DNA sequences is explored that involves the reciprocal interaction of two oligonucleotides and the DNA polymerase extension products whose synthesis they prime, when they are hybridized to different strands of a DNA template in a relative orientation such that their extension products overlap.

Rapid and sensitive detection of point mutations and DNA polymorphisms using the polymerase chain reaction

TL;DR: It is found that most single base changes in up to 200-base fragments could be detected as mobility shifts and the interspersed repetitive sequences of human, Alu repeats are highly polymorphic.

Fast and sensitive silver staining of DNA in polyacrylamide gels

TL;DR: The photochemically derived silver stain of nucleic acids in polyacrylamide gels originally described by Merril et al. was modified to reduce unspecific background staining and increase sensitivity and this improved staining procedure is applied for the routine analysis of complex DNA profiles generated by DNA amplification fingerprinting (DAF).
