Global parametric image alignment via high-order approximation

TLDR
This paper improves both the convergence range and rate using a second order Taylor expansion and shows first order methods to be a degenerate case of the proposed scheme, and extends the scheme using a symmetrical formulation which further improves the convergence properties.

Nonrigid Registration of 2-D and 3-D Dynamic Cell Nuclei Images for Improved Classification of Subcellular Particle Motion

TL;DR: An intensity-based approach for nonrigid registration of multichannel microscopy image sequences of cell nuclei is developed and demonstrated that cell nucleus deformations change the observed motion types of particles and that this approach allows to recover the original motion.

An improved 3D imaging system for dimensional quality inspection of rolled products in the metal industry

TL;DR: Two approaches to improve the line detection and extraction method used in the original system are discussed, one intended for high-speed processing with lower accuracy, and the other providing high accuracy while incurring higher computational time expenses.

Convex Optimization

TL;DR: In this article, the focus is on recognizing convex optimization problems and then finding the most appropriate technique for solving them, and a comprehensive introduction to the subject is given. But the focus of this book is not on the optimization problem itself, but on the problem of finding the appropriate technique to solve it.

An iterative image registration technique with an application to stereo vision

TL;DR: In this paper, the spatial intensity gradient of the images is used to find a good match using a type of Newton-Raphson iteration, which can be generalized to handle rotation, scaling and shearing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determining optical flow

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for finding the optical flow pattern is presented which assumes that the apparent velocity of the brightness pattern varies smoothly almost everywhere in the image, and an iterative implementation is shown which successfully computes the Optical Flow for a number of synthetic image sequences.

Performance of optical flow techniques

TL;DR: These comparisons are primarily empirical, and concentrate on the accuracy, reliability, and density of the velocity measurements; they show that performance can differ significantly among the techniques the authors implemented.
