Adsorptive removal of Acid Blue 113 using hydroxyapatite nanoadsorbents synthesized using Peltophorum pterocarpum pod extract.

TL;DR: In this article , a green synthesis of hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanoadsorbents using Peltophorum pterocarpum pod extract was reported, and the surface area was determined as 40.04 m2/g possessing mesopores that can be related to the high adsorption efficiency of the HAP for the removal of a toxic dye, acid blue 113 (AB 113) from water.
Journal ArticleDOI

UV-assisted synthesis of hydroxyapatite from eggshells at ambient temperature: cytotoxicity, drug delivery and bioactivity

TL;DR: The prospects of a UV-assisted synthesis method as a green route for the synthesis of Hap to be applied in biomedical fields are highlighted.

A new cancellous bone material of silk fibroin/cellulose dual network composite aerogel reinforced by nano-hydroxyapatite filler

TL;DR: In this paper, an alkali urea system was used to dissolve, regenerate and gelate cellulose and silk fibroin (SF) to prepare composite aerosol, and a dual network structure was shaped in the composite aerogel materials interlaced by sheet-like SF and reticular cellulose wrapping n-HA on the surface.

Trends and Opportunities of Bivalve Shells’ Waste Valorization in a Prospect of Circular Blue Bioeconomy

TL;DR: In this article , the authors review the scientific literature of the last twenty years and the principal recent trends in shell waste reuse, describing applications that are already in place on a large scale in agriculture and livestock, soils, water and wastewater remediation, biodiesel production and biofilters, as well as niche applications that now simply have the potential to be scaled up.

The carbonate environment in bone mineral: a resolution-enhanced Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy Study.

TL;DR: The environment of carbonate ions in bones of different species was investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy associated with a self-deconvolution technique and a band not previously observed was shown to correspond to a labile carbonate environment.

Carbonated hydroxyapatite as bone substitute

TL;DR: In this paper, B-carbonateapatite (CHA) powder was synthesized starting from calcium nitrate tetrahydrate, diammonium hydrogen phosphate and sodium hydrogen carbonate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Novel infrared spectroscopic method for the determination of crystallinity of hydroxyapatite minerals.

TL;DR: IR indices of crystallinity have been developed for both well crystallized and poorly crystallized HA derivatives, and a preliminary application of the method to a microscopic biological sample (rat epiphyseal growth plate) is illustrated.

Infrared and Isotopic Evidence for Diagenesis of Bone Apatite at Dos Pilas, Guatemala: Palaeodietary Implications

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined apatite preservation in Classic Period Maya skeletal remains from Dos Pilas, Guatemala, using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to identify diagenetic change in apatitic chemistry.

Calcium phosphate phase transformation produced by the interaction of the portland cement component of white mineral trioxide aggregate with a phosphate-containing fluid.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors characterized the calcium phosphate phases produced when set white Portland cement was immersed in phosphate-buffered saline using pH and turbidity measurements, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, transmission electron microscope, electron diffraction, x-ray diffraction and Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy.
