TLDR
In this article, the authors present the implications of postponement for the decoupling point, supply chain integration, control of the supply chain and capacity planning issues, and extend the significance of postponing towards the perspective of a holistic supply chain context.Abstract:
As a marketing, logistics and manufacturing concept, postponement has been around in the literature for a long time. Its application can also be dated to the 1920s. However, only in recent times has it been used as a supply chain strategy. Postponement fosters a new way of thinking about product design, process design and supply chain management. In this paper, we rethink the supply chain from a postponement point of view and present the implications of postponement for the decoupling point, supply chain integration, control of the supply chain and capacity planning issues. The objective is to extend the significance of postponement towards the perspective of a holistic supply chain context.read more

Green, lean, and global supply chains
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examine the relationship among green, lean, and global supply chain strategies as found in the literature, with emphasis on the concurrent implementation of these three strategic initiatives, in order to develop a research agenda to guide theoretically based future research that informs managerial decision making.

The Internet-of-Things: Review and research directions
TL;DR: This paper presents a review of the Internet-of-Things through four conceptualizations: IoT as liquification and density of information of resources; IoT as digital materiality%; IoT as assemblage or service system; and IoT as modules, transactions, and service.

Supply-chain uncertainty: a review and theoretical foundation for future research
TL;DR: In this paper, a broad view of supply chain uncertainty (incorporating supply chain risk) is presented, and a theoretical foundation for future research is developed by identifying a comprehensive list of fourteen sources of uncertainty, including those that have received much research attention, such as the bullwhip effect, and those more recently described such as parallel interaction.

Engineer-to-order supply chain management: A literature review and research agenda
TL;DR: A comprehensive literature review of published material relating to engineer-to-order supply chains is presented in this paper, which contributes to the development of a more robust definition of ETO supply chain, helps to identify strategies that are suitable and investigates the relationship of the ETO sector with lean and agile approaches.

Leagility: Integrating the lean and agile manufacturing paradigms in the total supply chain
TL;DR: The use of either lean thinking or agile manufacturing has to be combined with a total supply chain strategy particularly considering market knowledge and positioning of the decoupling point as agile manufacturing is best suited to satisfying a fluctuating demand and lean manufacturing requires a level schedule.
