TLDR
The gluconapin, glucobrassicanapin and progoitrin content of seed meal was determined by the genotype of the maternal plant, rather than the embryo genotype, and the gene systems controlling the three compounds did not segregate independently of each other.
Abstract
Glucosinolate content of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) meal was investigated in parental, hybrid and segregating populations derived from the cultivar Bronowski, and a strain derived from Target. The gluconapin, glucobrassicanapin and progoitrin content of seed meal was determined by the genotype of the maternal plant, rather than the embryo genotype. Higher values of gluconapin were partially dominant to the lower values. Three loci were indicated in the control of gluconapin content. Overdominance of high values of glucobrassicanapin was demonstrated. Four or five loci probably control glucobrassicanapin content. The high values of progoitrin were partially dominant to the absence of progoitrin. Four loci were indicated for progoitrin. The gene systems controlling the three compounds did not segregate independently of each other.

Hybridization of crop plants

TL;DR: This paper aims to demonstrate the efforts towards in-situ hybridization of crop plants and show their efforts towards dual use in the agricultural industry.

Feeding and growth of Plutella xylostella and Spodoptera eridania on Brassica juncea with varying glucosinolate concentrations and myrosinase activities.

TL;DR: Results indicate that myrosinase activity might be more important for plant defense against specialist insects that have adaptations to intact glucosinolates, but less important for defense against generalists, which are susceptible to the intact glucanolates.

Leaf glucosinolate profiles and their relationship to pest and disease resistance in oilseed rape

TL;DR: The potential to enhance pest and disease resistance of oilseed rape by manipulating the leaf glucosinolate profile without reducing seed quality is discussed.

Quantitative trait analysis of seed yield and other complex traits in hybrid spring rapeseed ( Brassica napus L.): 1. Identification of genomic regions from winter germplasm

TL;DR: Most QTL for which the introgressed allele decreased seed yield of hybrids mapped to genomic regions having homoeologous non-reciprocal transpositions, suggesting that allelic configurations created by these rearrangements might make an important contribution to genetic variation for complex traits in oilseed B. napus.

Oil determination of oilseed. Gravimetric routine method

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for the determination of oil on long series of oilseed is presented, which is a gravimetric method which reduces the hand labor to a minimum, and the difference between averages for the new method and averages of extraction analyses made with continuous extractors did not exceed 0.28% of oil.

Varietal and environmental effects on rapeseed: i. isothiocyanate and thiooxazolidone content

TL;DR: The Argentine-type could easily be distinguished from the Polish-type as the thiooxazolidone content was approximately three times greater in the former but no such varietal distinction was found for the isothiocyanate content.

The Biosynthesis of Some Isothiocyanates and Oxazolidinethiones in Rape (Brassica campestris L.)

TL;DR: The results obtained suggest that the rape plant can synthesize amino acids by the condensation of acetate (as acetyl CoA) to alpha-keto acids to yield a homologue of the original amino acid.

Continuous countercurrent vacuum bleaching

TL;DR: In this article, the Votator continuous countercurrent vacuum bleaching system has been described and compared with older methods of bleaching, and data have been presented, comparing the performance of batch open kettle-, batch vacuum-, and continuous counter-current vacuum-bleaching systems.
