TLDR
The concept of custom power is now becoming familiar as mentioned in this paper and it describes the value-added power that electric utilities and other service providers will offer their customers in the future The improved level of reliability of this power, in terms of reduced interruptions and less variation, will stem from an integrated solution to present problems, of which a prominent feature will be the application of power electronic controllers to utility distribution systems and/or at the supply end of many industrial and commercial customers and industrial parks.
Abstract
Changes in customers' needs require improvements in the reliability and quality of the electricity supply This paper describes how the concept of custom power is now becoming familiar The term describes the value-added power that electric utilities and other service providers will offer their customers in the future The improved level of reliability of this power, in terms of reduced interruptions and less variation, will stem from an integrated solution to present problems, of which a prominent feature will be the application of power electronic controllers to utility distribution systems and/or at the supply end of many industrial and commercial customers and industrial parks >

Voltage Sag/Swell Compensation using Dynamic Voltage Restorer

TL;DR: In this article, the reference voltages for dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) are generated using a control algorithm based on unit templates and instantaneous symmetrical component theory, which can tightly regulate the load voltage to the pre-fault value against any power quality problem in the source side.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

New concept for voltage control

TL;DR: In this paper, a new concept for voltage control in the power net is suggested with the use of a tap changer of the distribution transformer with the continuous operation of tap changing and control of the secondary voltage.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

A high power IGBT based series injection power quality conditioner

TL;DR: In this article, a 2 MVA series injection power quality device topology is described, which is capable of solving a wide variety of power quality problems including dips, voltage harmonics, unbalance and flicker.

Performance of Facts Devices to Improve Power Quality and Application of Static Synchronous Compensator

TL;DR: The Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) is one of the key Flexible Ac Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices which are based on the Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology as discussed by the authors.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Cost-effective power quality improvement for industrial plants

TL;DR: A power-electronics based device, obtained by a combination of a static transfer switch in series with a static series compensator for protection of large industrial distribution systems against voltage dips and short interruptions in a cost-effective way is proposed.

Solid-state 13-kV distribution class circuit breaker: planning, development and demonstration

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the planning, development and demonstration of solid-state 13 kV distribution class circuit breakers, which can instantaneously transfer sensitive loads from a normal supply that experiences a disturbance to an alternate supply that is unaffected by the disturbance.
