Measurement of the deformation and adhesion of solids in contact
TL;DR: In this article, two curved surfaces of molecularly smooth mica are brought into contact under a controlled load, and their deformed shape is measured using optical interference fringes of equal chromatic order.

Disjoining pressure in thin liquid foam and emulsion films—new concepts and perspectives
TL;DR: In this paper, a topical survey of the disjoining pressure in thin liquid foam and emulsion films from both the experimental and the theoretical points of view is presented, focusing on films stabilized by surfactant/polyelectrolyte mixtures.

Forces between surfaces bearing terminally anchored polymer chains in good solvents
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the forces between terminally anchored, non-adsorbing polymer chains (polystyrene) in good solvents (toluene and xylene) and found that the polymer layers can extend some 6Rg (where Rg is the unperturbed radius of gyration of the polymer) out from each surface, substantially further out than adsorbing homopolymers.

Techniques for measuring surface forces
TL;DR: In this article, a review of surface forces between colloidal particles and between surfaces is presented, which is of utmost importance for determining the behavior of dispersed systems and adhesion phenomena.
