Light Scattering and NMR Studies of the Self-Association of the Amphiphilic Molecule Propranolol Hydrochloride in Aqueous Electrolyte Solutions

TL;DR: In this article, critical concentrations, aggregation numbers, and effective micellar charges of the amphiphilic drug propranolol hydrochloride have been determined from static light scattering measurements at 25 °C in the presence of added electrolyte (0.0−0.5 mol kg-1 NaCl).
Journal ArticleDOI

Indirect evidence for hydration forces in the deposition of polystyrene latex colloids on glass surfaces

TL;DR: In this paper, an anomalous decrease of collision efficiencies with increasing electrolyte concentration at high ionic strengths was observed, providing indirect evidence for the presence of repulsive hydration forces.

Measurement and scaling of hydrodynamic interactions in the presence of draining channels.

TL;DR: This work performed direct force measurement of the normal hydrodynamic interactions during the drainage of fluid from the gap between a structured and a smooth surface using surface force apparatus, and finds agreement between experiments and the scaling analysis, which allows it to estimate a characteristic length scale that corresponds to the transition from the fluid being radially squeezed out of the nominal contact area to being squeezed out through the network of interconnected channels.

Cytochrome c Recognition of Immobilized, Orientational Variants of Cytochrome b5: Direct Force and Equilibrium Binding Measurements

TL;DR: The results suggest that, at large separations, cyt c initially interacts relatively nonspecifically with a large patch of negative charge on cytochrome c, which is in agreement with the calculated electrostatic potential distribution across the protein surface.

Analytic solution for the three-layer multiple beam interferometer

TL;DR: A particular application to fringes of equal chromatic order can be utilized to obtain precise measurements of the thickness of extremely thin films sandwiched between two substrates.
