Tuning the degree of chemical ordering in the solid solution of a complex concentrated alloy and its impact on mechanical properties

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used binary enthalpies of mixing in a Co-Cr-Fe-Ni base alloy system, a high entropy alloy (HEA) or complex concentrated alloy (CCA), to identify the equiatomic CoFeNi, which should form a random solid solution.

Understanding the role of Ca segregation on thermal stability, electrical resistivity and mechanical strength of nanostructured aluminum

TL;DR: In this paper, an Al-Ca composite material was severely deformed by high-pressure torsion to achieve a nanoscaled structure with a mean grain size of only 25nm.

Investigation into the hot forming-quenching integrated process with cold dies for high strength aluminum alloy

TL;DR: In this paper, two different hot forming routes were proposed, i.e., hot forming-quenching integrated process with cold dies (HFQ®+120°C/24 h) and HFQ® + pre-ageing+ Â simulated baking, respectively, and the results showed that the U-shaped parts exhibited good formability without obvious surface oxidation, and overall mechanical properties were evenly distributed.

Selective laser melting of SiCp/Al composites: Densification, microstructure, and mechanical and tribological properties

TL;DR: In this paper, SiCp/Al composites were successfully fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM), and the dependence of phase composition, densification behavior, and mechanical properties of the composites on laser power was researched and discussed.

X-ray line broadening from filed aluminium and wolfram

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a Geiger counter spectrometer to measure the changes in intensity distribution in the spectra of cold worked aluminium and wolfram and found that the line breadths may be attributed to simultaneous small particle size and strain broadening, the latter predominating at the higher Bragg angles.
