TLDR
In this article, the authors reviewed and synthesized the literature on the net energy return for electric power generation by wind turbines and concluded that wind turbines have a favorable position relative to fossil fuels, nuclear, and solar power generation technologies in terms of EROI.

World energy outlook

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss leading problems linked to energy that the world is now confronting and propose some ideas concerning possible solutions, and conclude that it is necessary to pursue actively the development of coal, natural gas, and nuclear power.
Journal ArticleDOI

The role of CO2 capture and utilization in mitigating climate change

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential contribution of carbon capture and utilization (CCU) to the mitigation of CO2 emissions has been investigated and the authors find that CCU will only account for a small amount of the required total mitigation effort.
Journal ArticleDOI

EROI of different fuels and the implications for society

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on assessing the energy costs of modern day society and its relation to GDP and their most important focus is the characteristics of our major energy sources including each fuel's energy return on investment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Year in review--EROI or energy return on (energy) invested.

TL;DR: A review of the main areas of interest and a history of the development of EROI are provided, as well as a review of some of the various definitions of E ROI and how they apply to EROi analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Role of Energy in Economic Growth

TL;DR: Time‐series analysis shows that energy and GDP cointegrate, and energy use Granger causes GDP when capital and other production inputs are included in the vector autoregression model, however, various mechanisms can weaken the links between energy and growth.

Energy and the u.s. Economy: a biophysical perspective.

TL;DR: A series of hypotheses is presented about the relation of national energy use to national economic activity (both time series and cross-sectional) which offer a different perspective from standard economics for the assessment of historical and current economic events.

Dynamic life cycle assessment (LCA) of renewable energy technologies

Martin Pehnt
- 01 Jan 2006 -
TL;DR: In this article, a dynamic approach towards the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of renewable energy technologies is presented and it is shown that for all renewable energy chains, the inputs of finite energy resources and emissions of greenhouse gases are extremely low compared with the conventional system.

Net energy analysis : handbook for combining process and input-output analysis

TL;DR: Methods for combining process analysis with input-output analysis enables the analyst to focus data acquisition effects cost-effectively, and to achieve down to some minimum degree a specified accuracy in the results.
