Modeling of a structural phase transition in La2−x SrxCuO4

TLDR
In this paper, structural, vibrational, and elastic properties of La2CuO4 are calculated using a model for calculating the energy of the crystal based on interionic potentials with the multiparticle Jahn-Teller contribution included explicitly.
Abstract
The structural, vibrational, and elastic properties of La2CuO4 are calculated using a model for calculating the energy of the crystal based on interionic potentials with the multiparticle Jahn-Teller contribution included explicitly. The microscopic reasons for the structural instability of the La2CuO4 lattice relative to rotations of the oxygen octahedra are investigated. A structural phase transition from the orthorhombic phase (space group D 2 18 ) into the tetragonal phase (space group D 4 17 ) under hydrostatic compression of an La2−x SrxCuO4 crystal is modeled. The (P,x) structural phase diagram for La2−x SrxCuO4 is constructed.

High-temperature heat capacity of La 2 CuO 4

TL;DR: The heat capacity of La2CuO4 has been measured in the temperature range 400-950 K and the temperature dependence of the heat capacity has been found to exhibit an extremum at 526 K as mentioned in this paper.

High-temperature heat capacity of Gd 2 CuO 4

TL;DR: In this paper, the heat capacity of Gd2CuO4 has been studied by differential scanning calorimetry in the temperature range 362-958 K and it has been found that the temperature dependence of the molar heat capacity has an extremum near 590 K; the extremum is related to a phase transition from the high temperature temperature tetragonal phase to the low-temperature orthorhombic phase.

Pressure induced lattice effects in pure and near optimally doped La 2 - x Sr x CuO 4

TL;DR: The effect of hydrostatic pressure on La2−xSrxCuO4 has been examined by synchrotron angle-resolved powder XRD (at RT and at 20 K for x = 0.0 and 0.15) with two pressure transmitting media (methanol-ethanol and neon) and by Raman spectroscopy.
