TLDR
There was amide formation between chitosan and organic acids after treatment especially in chitOSan acetate and propionate films, and change in the degree of crystallinity from powder X-ray diffractogram and thermal characteristic from DSC thermogram were related to the water sorption and dissolution of films.

Chitosan-starch composite film: preparation and characterization.

TL;DR: In this article, a chitosan/starch composite film was used to evaluate the tensile strength (TS), elongation-at-break (E ), and water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of the composite film.

Characterization of quinoa protein–chitosan blend edible films

TL;DR: In this paper, a solution casting of blends of quinoa protein extract (PE) and chitosan (CH) was used to obtain quinoa proteins and CH, forming a new material with enhanced mechanical properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

FTIR studies of chitosan acetate based polymer electrolytes

TL;DR: In this paper, when chitosan and ethylene carbonate (EC) are dissolved in acetic acid to form a film of plasticized chiton acetate, the infrared spectrum of the films do not show any significant shift indicating that EC does not interact with chitonsan.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation and properties evaluation of chitosan-coated cassava starch films

TL;DR: In this paper, chitosan-coated cassava starch films were prepared and X-ray patterns of the coated dry film showed that the reflection of B-type starch crystalline shifted to slightly higher degrees at about 17.2° (2θ).

Effect of Heating an Aqueous Suspension of Chitosan on the Crystallinity and Polymorphs.

TL;DR: In this paper, changes in the crystallinity and polymorph of chitosan, which may affect its functionality, by heating (up to 200°C) its water suspension were studied by X-ray diffraction measurements.

Chitin derivatives. I. Kinetics of the heat-induced conversion of chitosan to chitin

TL;DR: The thermally-induced conversion of chitosonium acetate in film form into a water-insoluble chitin film was examined by thermal analysis (DMTA, TGA, DSC, and TMA) and by solid state 13C-NMR spectroscopy as mentioned in this paper.
