TLDR
This paper presents a meta-modelling architecture suitable for media asset management systems in corporations, audio-visual broadcast servers, and personal media servers for consumers that was designed for media search on the Web.
Abstract
Multimedia search and retrieval has become an active research field thanks to the increasing demand that accompanies many new practical applications. The applications include largescale multimedia search engines on the Web, media asset management systems in corporations, audio-visual broadcast servers, and personal media servers for consumers. Diverse requirements derived from these applications impose great challenges and incentives for research in this field.

Structure analysis of sports video using domain models

TL;DR: This paper presents an effective framework for scene detection and structure analysis for sports videos, using tennis and baseball as examples, and combines domain-specific knowledge, supervised machine learning techniques, and automatic feature analysis at multiple levels.

Interface for presenting information

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for presenting information is described, where categories are determined for located information by the analyzing of content of information found within (fig. 6, #602-619).

Video data transmitting/receiving method and video monitor system

TL;DR: In this paper, the start and stop of an encoding process is repeated at a predetermined time interval to carry out a data dividing process whereby a plurality of time-continuous video data are generated as partial video data.

Approaches to reduce the effects of OOV queries on indexed spoken audio

TL;DR: This work presents several novel approaches to the Out of Vocabulary (OOV) query problem for spoken audio: indexing based on syllable-like units called particles and query expansion according to acoustic confusability for a word index.

Embedding content-based searchable indexes in multimedia files

TL;DR: In this article, a content-based index stream is generated based on the analysis of multimedia content prior to encoding the multimedia content in the rendering chain of processing, which is then used to generate a contentbased searchable index when necessary.

Fundamentals of speech recognition

TL;DR: This book presents a meta-modelling framework for speech recognition that automates the very labor-intensive and therefore time-heavy and therefore expensive and expensive process of manually modeling speech.

Color indexing

TL;DR: In this paper, color histograms of multicolored objects provide a robust, efficient cue for indexing into a large database of models, and they can differentiate among a large number of objects.

Texture features for browsing and retrieval of image data

TL;DR: Comparisons with other multiresolution texture features using the Brodatz texture database indicate that the Gabor features provide the best pattern retrieval accuracy.

Query by image and video content: the QBIC system

TL;DR: The Query by Image Content (QBIC) system as discussed by the authors allows queries on large image and video databases based on example images, user-constructed sketches and drawings, selected color and texture patterns, camera and object motion, and other graphical information.
