Influence of Sampling Design Parameters on Biomass Predictions Derived from Airborne LiDAR Data
Marc Bouvier,Sylvie Durrieu,Richard A. Fournier,Nathalie Saint-Geours,Dominique Guyon,Eloi Grau,Florian de Boissieu +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of sampling design parameters on biomass prediction accuracy obtained from airborne lidar data was investigated and a one-factor-at-a-time and a global sensitivity analysis was performed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of nested plot designs on assessing stand attributes, species diversity, and spatial forest structures
TL;DR: In this article, the authors assess the performances of nested plot designs in estimating stand parameters, and local-level species diversity and spatial forest structures through simulation, and show that nested plots may not adequately capture multiple aspects of forest structures, and the need to balance accuracy, efficiency, and field effort.
Book ChapterDOI
Observations and Measurements
Anna Zafeiris,Tamás Vicsek +1 more
TL;DR: This chapter gives an overview of the (quantitative) observations and measurements related to hierarchy, concerning both animals and humans, and special emphasis is given to the phenomenon of dominance hierarchy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Probabilistic sampling and estimation for large-scale assessment of poplar plantations in Northern Italy
Piermaria Corona,Piermaria Corona,Francesco Chianucci,Agnese Marcelli,Damiano Gianelle,Lorenzo Fattorini,Mirko Grotti,Mirko Grotti,Nicola Puletti,Walter Mattioli,Walter Mattioli +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a two-phase sampling strategy for large-scale assessment of hybrid poplar plantations in Northern Italy was implemented by means of tessellation stratified sampling on high-resolution remotely sensed imagery, covering the survey area by a grid of regular polygons of equal size and randomly and independently selecting one point per quadrat.
Journal ArticleDOI
A plot-level exploratory analysis of European forest based on the results from the BioSoil Forest Biodiversity project
Marta Galluzzi,Francesca Giannetti,Nicola Puletti,Roberto Canullo,Duccio Rocchini,Annemarie Bastrup-Birk,Gherardo Chirici +6 more
TL;DR: The ICP Forests LI-BioDiv database as discussed by the authors is a multi-dimensional forest geodatabase that contains forest structure and vegetation records collected in 19 European countries in the period of 2005-2008.
