Natural convection induced drag forces on spheres at low Grashof numbers: comparison of theory with experiment

TLDR
In this article, the experimental measurement and the numerical calculation of both the steady-state and the transient natural convective drag force around spheres at low Grashof numbers were performed in an electrodynamic balance for Grashoff numbers ranging from 0.002 to 0.03.

Laminar natural convection heat transfer from isothermal spheres

TL;DR: In this paper, a plume with a mushroom-shaped front forms above the sphere whose length and thickness decrease with increasing Gr. The vortex size increases with Gr and the local Nusselt number along the sphere surface first decreases, reaches a minimum, and then increases steeply at the rear of the sphere.

Free convection in power-law fluids from a heated sphere

TL;DR: In this article, the governing field equations describing heat transfer from a heated sphere immersed in quiescent power-law fluids have been solved numerically and the role of Grashof number (Gr), Prandtl number (Pr) and power law index (n), on the value of the Nusselt number (Nu) for a sphere in the natural convection regime is discussed.

The electrodynamic chamber: a tool for studying high temperature kinetics involving liquid and solid particles

TL;DR: In this article, a particle is suspended motionless at a fixed position in an electrodynamic chamber (EDC) and the particle is heated by means of laser radiation, where the particle can be well characterized prior to a reaction and if after the reaction the particle was still suspended in the chamber then it can be captured and off-line characterization can be carried out.
