Nitrate-induced photooxidation of trace organic chemicals in water.
TLDR
The oxidation kinetics of butyl chloride, nitrobenzene, anisole, and methylmercury in the presence of hydroxyl radical (OH) scavengers were used to determine the rate and quantum efficiency for production of OH from irradiated nitrate ions in water.Abstract:
The oxidation kinetics of butyl chloride, nitrobenzene, anisole, and methylmercury in the presence of hydroxyl radical (OH) scavengers were used to determine the rate and quantum efficiency for production of OH from irradiated nitrate ions in water. The experiments were conducted under steady-state irradiations with monochromatic radiation (313 nm) and with sunlight. The mean quantum efficiency for OH production at 313 nm rises from 0.013 +/- 0.002 at 20 /sup 0/C to 0.017 +/- 0.003 at 30 /sup 0/C in the pH range 6.2-8.2. Results of this study are used to estimate nitrate-induced photooxidation rates of trace organic chemicals under a variety of environmental conditions. 27 references, 6 figures, 2 tables.read more

Studies on the Kinetics of Doxazosin Degradation in Simulated Environmental Conditions and Selected Advanced Oxidation Processes
TL;DR: In this paper, the photochemical behavior of doxazosin (DOX) in simulated environmental conditions using natural waters taken from local rivers as a solvent was studied and a correlation analysis was used to explain the impact of individual parameters of matrix on the rate of DOX degradation.

UV Sensitization of Nitrate and Sulfite: A Powerful Tool for Groundwater Remediation
TL;DR: In this paper, water contaminated with nitrate and 1,4-dioxane is irradiated by a UV source (5 mg N/L) and it is shown that adding sulfite to the process after 10 min of irradiation reduces the concentration of nitrite without affecting the degradation rate of 1 4 dioxane.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the formation of 4−nitrosoresorcinol (II) is caused by photolysis of nitrite ions in the presence of formate ions, but this inhibition is much more efficient in degassed solution than in air-saturated medium.
