Nitrate-induced photooxidation of trace organic chemicals in water.
TLDR
The oxidation kinetics of butyl chloride, nitrobenzene, anisole, and methylmercury in the presence of hydroxyl radical (OH) scavengers were used to determine the rate and quantum efficiency for production of OH from irradiated nitrate ions in water.Abstract:
The oxidation kinetics of butyl chloride, nitrobenzene, anisole, and methylmercury in the presence of hydroxyl radical (OH) scavengers were used to determine the rate and quantum efficiency for production of OH from irradiated nitrate ions in water. The experiments were conducted under steady-state irradiations with monochromatic radiation (313 nm) and with sunlight. The mean quantum efficiency for OH production at 313 nm rises from 0.013 +/- 0.002 at 20 /sup 0/C to 0.017 +/- 0.003 at 30 /sup 0/C in the pH range 6.2-8.2. Results of this study are used to estimate nitrate-induced photooxidation rates of trace organic chemicals under a variety of environmental conditions. 27 references, 6 figures, 2 tables.read more

Effects of Inorganic Anions and Humic Acid on the Photocatalytic and Ozone Oxidation of Oxytetracycline in Aqueous Solution
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of various anions, such as chloride (Cl−), sulphate (SO42−), nitrate (NO3−), bicarbonate (HCO3−, dihydrogenphosphate(H2v PO4−), and humic acid on the degradation of OTC by these oxidation processes have been investigated.

Degradation of methadone by the sunlight/FC process: Kinetics, radical species participation and influence of the water matrix.
TL;DR: The results emphasize the need to consider different water matrices when applying sunlight/FC photolysis for water treatment, as the presence of HCO3-, Cl- and dissolved organic matters, retard the degradation of methadone in synthetic wastewater.

Degradation kinetics of target compounds and correlations with spectral indices during UV/H2O2 post-treatment of biologically treated acrylonitrile wastewater.
TL;DR: High-performance size exclusion chromatography (HPSEC) coupled with diode-array detector (DAD) and fluorescence detector (FLD) analysis revealed that humic-like sub-peak signals from different molecular weights of fluorescent organic matter decreased consistently during the oxidation process, which made humic like fluorescence exhibit higher correlation with the target compounds' degradation than the spectral indices of UV absorbance at 254 nm (UVA254) and protein-like fluorescence.
