TLDR
In this paper, the authors highlight the merits of residual centering for representing interaction and powered terms in standard regression contexts (e.g., Lance, 1988), and propose an orthogonalizing approach to represent latent variable interactions.
Abstract
The goals of this article are twofold: (a) briefly highlight the merits of residual centering for representing interaction and powered terms in standard regression contexts (e.g., Lance, 1988), and (b) extend the residual centering procedure to represent latent variable interactions. The proposed method for representing latent variable interactions has potential advantages over extant procedures. First, the latent variable interaction is derived from the observed covariation pattern among all possible indicators of the interaction. Second, no constraints on particular estimated parameters need to be placed. Third, no recalculations of parameters are required. Fourth, model estimates are stable and interpretable. In our view, the orthogonalizing approach is technically and conceptually straightforward, can be estimated using any structural equation modeling software package, and has direct practical interpretation of parameter estimates. Its behavior in terms of model fit and estimated standard errors is v...

A Comparison of Approaches for the Analysis of Interaction Effects Between Latent Variables Using Partial Least Squares Path Modeling

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared four PLS-based approaches: a product indicator approach, a 2-stage approach (Chin et al., 2003), a hybrid approach (Wold, 1982), and an orthogonalizing approach (Little, Bovaird, & Widaman, 2006).

An Update and Extension to SEM Guidelines for Admnistrative and Social Science Research

TL;DR: Among the several approaches proposed for estimating interactions in latent variable models in CBSEM, Bollen and Paxton (1998) and Little et al. (2006) describe procedures that do not require special-purpose software, and so are accessible to all CBSEM users.

The Norm Activation Model: An exploration of the functions of anticipated pride and guilt in pro-environmental behaviour

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide an overview of the literature that refers to anticipated pride and guilt within the Norm Activation Model (NAM), and they aim to increase their understanding of these associations through theoretical arguments and a study conducted in the Netherlands.

Entrepreneurial orientation, market orientation, network ties, and performance: Study of entrepreneurial firms in a developing economy

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors argue that the performance benefits of EO and MO are complementary, and vary across different levels of social and business network ties, and that aligning high levels of EEO and market orientation improves business performance.

Information Theory and an Extention of the Maximum Likelihood Principle

H. Akaike
TL;DR: The classical maximum likelihood principle can be considered to be a method of asymptotic realization of an optimum estimate with respect to a very general information theoretic criterion to provide answers to many practical problems of statistical model fitting.
