TLDR
It is suggested that anxiety and depression are related manifestations of the underlying neurochemical changes of PD itself and are unlikely to be primarily a psychologic reaction to the illness or a side effect of levodopa treatment.About:

TL;DR: Clinical diagnostic criteria for probable and possible PD‐D are proposed, characterized by impairment in attention, memory, executive and visuo‐spatial functions, behavioral symptoms such as affective changes, hallucinations, and apathy are frequent.

The neurobiology and control of anxious states
TL;DR: The present article focuses in particular upon the multifarious and complex roles of individual modulators, often as a function of the specific receptor type and neuronal substrate involved in their actions; novel targets for the management of anxiety disorders; the influence of neurotransmitters and other agents upon performance in the VCT; data acquired from complementary pharmacological and genetic strategies and, finally, several open questions likely to orientate future experimental- and clinical-research.

TL;DR: Prevalence and symptom expression of anxiety disorders in late life, as well as risk factors, comorbidity, cognitive decline, age of onset, and treatment efficacy for older adults are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-motor Symptoms of Parkinson's Disease
TL;DR: The characteristics, pathophysiology, epidemiology, and management of non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease including cognitive declines, psychiatric disturbances, and autonomic failures are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

“Mini-mental state”: A practical method for grading the cognitive state of patients for the clinician
Marshal F. Folstein,Marshal F. Folstein,Susan E B Folstein,Susan E B Folstein,Paul R. McHugh,Paul R. McHugh +5 more
TL;DR: A simplified, scored form of the cognitive mental status examination, the “Mini-Mental State” (MMS) which includes eleven questions, requires only 5-10 min to administer, and is therefore practical to use serially and routinely.
A practical method for grading the cognitive state of patients for the clinician
TL;DR: The Mini-Mental State (MMS) as mentioned in this paper is a simplified version of the standard WAIS with eleven questions and requires only 5-10 min to administer, and is therefore practical to use serially and routinely.

Parkinsonism: Onset, progression, and mortality
Margaret M. Hoehn,Melvin D. Yahr +1 more
TL;DR: Controversy over the effectiveness of therapeutic measures for parkinsonism is due partially to this wide variability and to the paucity of clinical information about the natural history of the syndrome.

A self-rating depression scale.
TL;DR: The general depression scales used were felt to be insufficient for the purpose of this research project and the more specific scales were also inadequate.
