Fisetin: A Dietary Antioxidant for Health Promotion

TL;DR: The multiple effects of fisetin are described with special emphasis on its anticancer activity as investigated in cell culture and animal models.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of submicellar concentrations of conjugated and unconjugated bile salts on the lipid bilayer membrane.

TL;DR: Steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence of the two excited-state prototropic forms of 1-naphthol indicate that submicellar bile salt concentration induces hydration of the lipid bilayer membrane into the core region.

A spectroscopic investigation and molecular docking study on the interaction of hen egg white lysozyme with liposomes of saturated and unsaturated phosphocholines probed by an anticancer drug ellipticine.

TL;DR: Molecular docking studies and fluorescence measurements indicate that ellipticine after removal from the liposome binds to the hydrophobic binding site of lysozyme, which implies that the drug molecules are released from liposomes and subsequent migration takes place to the aqueous phase.

Effect of curcumin on liposome: curcumin as a molecular probe for monitoring interaction of ionic liquids with 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine liposome.

TL;DR: The present study explores effects of three different kinds of widely used ILs, such as 1‐methyl‐3‐octylimidazolium chloride, 1‐buytl‐ 3‐methyl imadazolity tetrafluoroborate and 1‐benzyl‐3-methyl imidazlium tetrafLUoborate, on liposome properties of 1,2‐dipalmitoyl‐sn‐glycero‐3'phosphoch

Fluorescence behavior of (selected) flavonols: a combined experimental and computational study

TL;DR: It is shown that for flavonols with additional hydroxyl groups not the neutral molecule but rather anions lead to fluorescence and that solvation molecules need to be included explicitly in the theoretical calculations to obtain a sufficient accuracy-enabling the understanding and prediction of experimental data for Flavonols belonging to different sub-classes.

Protective effect of epicatechin, epicatechin gallate, and quercetin on lipid peroxidation in phospholipid bilayers

TL;DR: It is concluded that catechins and quercetin serve as powerful antioxidants against lipid peroxidation when phospholipid bilayers are exposed to aqueous oxygen radicals.

Modulation of liposomal membrane fluidity by flavonoids and isoflavonoids.

TL;DR: The results of the study suggest that the flavonoids and isoflavonoids, similar to cholesterol and alpha-tocopherol, partition into the hydrophobic core of the membrane and cause a dramatic decrease in lipid fluidity in this region of the membranes.
