TLDR
In this article, a survey and analysis of recent work on topological phases with polarization of light is presented, which has revealed several counterintuitive features of such phase shifts such as 2 nπ anholonomies, nonlinear and discontinuous behaviour originating from high singularities, peculiar spectral dependence, etc.

Geometric phases and time-odd coupling in Jahn-Teller systems

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that for equal coupling the geometric vector potential takes the form of a monopole and hence that the nuclear angular momentum for the system is shifted from integer to half-integer values.

Light beams with general direction and polarization: global description and geometric phase

TL;DR: In this paper, a manifold describing the family of plane monochromatic light waves with all directions, polarizations, phases and intensities was constructed by the construction of an orthogonal basis pair of complex polarization vectors for each direction; any light beam is then uniquely and smoothly specified by giving its direction and two complex amplitudes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phase modulation of mixed polarization states in deformed helix ferroelectric liquid crystals

TL;DR: In this article, the electro-optic properties of subwavelength-pitch deformed-helix ferroelectric liquid crystals (DHFLC) illuminated with partially polarized light were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Topological Metamaterials.

TL;DR: Topological properties of an object, associated with an integer called the topological invariant, are global features that cannot change continuously but only through abrupt variations, hence granting them intrinsic robustness as discussed by the authors .

Ellipsometry and polarized light

TL;DR: In this article, the polarization of light waves and propagation of polarized light through polarizing optical systems are discussed. But the authors focus on the application of ellipsometry in the field of measurement in ellipsometer systems.
