TLDR
Values for the sedimentation coefficients, Stokes' radii, diffusion coefficients, molecular weights, and frictional ratios provide strong support for a previous suggestion that free normal light chains of human immunoglobulin are counterparts to Bence-Jones proteins.

Progress in Molecular and Subcellular Biology

Fred E. Hahn
TL;DR: This volume summarizes the current knowledge of the interferon-based natural antiviral protection system, including 2',5'-oligoadenylate and double-stranded RNA, to help to develop a solid scientific rationale for the practical use of heterologous immunomodulators in the clinics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation and properties of a human retinol-transporting protein.

TL;DR: Urine from patients with tubular proteinuria contained up to 150 mg of RBP per 24-hour volume, which was free from neutral sugar and hexosamine, and Amino acid analyses suggested that these two fractions differed by 1 residue of arginine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alpha-1-microglobulin: an indicator protein for renal tubular function.

TL;DR: The concentrations of alpha 1M, and in particular its stability at low pH suggest that this protein may be useful in screening for tubular abnormalities and detecting chronic asymptomatic renal tubular dysfunction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characteristics of a vitamin A-transporting protein complex occurring in human serum.

TL;DR: The purified proteins appeared homogeneous by Ouchterlony immunodiffusion, immunoelectrophoresis, and ultracentrifugation, indicating a close to spherical appearance also for the prealbumin-RBP complex.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent

TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.

Disc electrophoresis – ii method and application to human serum proteins*

TL;DR: The technique of disc electrophoresis has been presented, including a discussion of the technical variables with special reference to the separation of protein fractions of normal human serum.

Immunochemical quantitation of antigens by single radial immunodiffusion

TL;DR: By standardizing the technical conditions of the experiment it is possible to use this principle for the immunochemical determination of antigens, and the lower limit of the method was found to correspond to 0·0025 μg of antigen, and to an antigen concentrations of 1·25 μg per ml.
