Relationship between physical performance and mild cognitive impairment in elderly hemodialysis patients is modified by the presence of diabetes: A multicenter cross-sectional study

TL;DR: Physical performance was associated with MCI in diabetic hemodialysis patients rather than the non-diabetes group, and further analysis showed that TUGT was negatively associated with attention and calculation and language in diabetes patients, while WS was positively associated with recall and language on the Chinese version of the Modified Mini-Mental State Examination.

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Outdoor Fitness Equipment Intervention in Achieving Fitness Goals for Seniors

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors designed an outdoor fitness equipment (OFE) training protocol incorporating four modalities of PA: endurance (air walker and ski machine), resistance (rowing machine and bonny rider), flexibility (arm stretch and shoulder wheel), and balance exercise (waist twister).

The Associations between Upper and Lower Body Muscle Strength and Diabetes among Midlife Women

TL;DR: The combination of both upper and lower body muscle strength into a composite MSI was more strongly associated with diabetes than either weak HGS or prolonged RCS alone in midlife women.

A Proportional Hazards Model for the Subdistribution of a Competing Risk

TL;DR: This article proposes methods for combining estimates of the cause-specific hazard functions under the proportional hazards formulation, but these methods do not allow the analyst to directly assess the effect of a covariate on the marginal probability function.

Cardiorespiratory Fitness as a Quantitative Predictor of All-Cause Mortality and Cardiovascular Events in Healthy Men and Women: A Meta-analysis

TL;DR: In this article, a systematic literature search was conducted for observational cohort studies using MEDLINE (1966 to December 31, 2008) and EMBASE (1980 to December 30, 2008), which reported associations of baseline cardiorespiratory fitness with CHD events, CVD events, or all-cause mortality in healthy participants.

A review of the measurement of grip strength in clinical and epidemiological studies: towards a standardised approach

TL;DR: A standardised method of measuring grip strength would enable more consistent measurement of grip strength and better assessment of sarcopenia.
