TLDR
In this paper, structural equation modeling revealed that PsyCap positively predicted academic engagement, flourishing, interdependent happiness, and positive affect among 606 Filipino high school students who were recruited in the study.
Abstract
Previous literature emphasized the role of psychological capital (PsyCap) in fostering positive organizational and work outcomes. However, there were very scarce investigations on the benefits of PsyCap especially in non-Western academic settings. The current research addresses this gap through assessing the extent to which PsyCap can be associated with optimal academic and well-being outcomes. There were 606 Filipino high school students who were recruited in the study. The results of structural equation modeling revealed that PsyCap positively predicted academic engagement, flourishing, interdependent happiness, and positive affect. Implications of the findings are elaborated in terms of how PsyCap can potentially assist in facilitating positive student outcomes in a non-Western context.

How does psychological capital lead to better well-being for students? The roles of family support and problem-focused coping

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the impact of psychological capital on students' well-being with family support as an antecedent and problem-focused coping as a mediator, and they found that family support positively predicted psychological capital, psychological capital positively predicted problem focused coping, and problem focussed coping predicted well being.

Examining the influence of human and psychological capital variables on post-secondary students’ academic stress

TL;DR: In this article , the influence of human and psychological capital variables on the reporting of stress affecting Canadian post-secondary students' academic performances was examined by fitting mixed univariable and mixed multivariable logistic regression models, finding that students who had high cumulative grade point average, received information on stress reduction, were aware of mental health resources on campus, felt experiences that challenged them to grow and become a better person, felt their life had a sense of direction or meaning to it, felt interested in life, felt confident, and felt they had something important to contribute to society reported significantly higher odds of experiencing stress affecting their academic performance.

Cutoff criteria for fit indexes in covariance structure analysis : Conventional criteria versus new alternatives

TL;DR: In this article, the adequacy of the conventional cutoff criteria and several new alternatives for various fit indexes used to evaluate model fit in practice were examined, and the results suggest that, for the ML method, a cutoff value close to.95 for TLI, BL89, CFI, RNI, and G...

To Parcel or Not to Parcel: Exploring the Question, Weighing the Merits

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examine the controversial practice of using parcels of items as manifest variables in structural equation modeling (SEM) procedures and conclude that the unconsidered use of parcels is never warranted, while, at the same time, the considered use of items cannot be dismissed out of hand.
