Electron–electron and electron‐hole interactions in small semiconductor crystallites: The size dependence of the lowest excited electronic state
TL;DR: In this paper, the excited electronic states of semiconductor crystallites sufficiently small (∼50 A diam) that the electronic properties differ from those of bulk materials were modeled, and an approximate formula was given for the lowest excited electronic state energy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Perspectives on the Physical Chemistry of Semiconductor Nanocrystals
TL;DR: In this paper, the present status and new opportunities for research in this area of materials physical chemistry are reviewed, as well as a review of the present state and opportunities in this field.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epitaxial Growth of Highly Luminescent CdSe/CdS Core/Shell Nanocrystals with Photostability and Electronic Accessibility
TL;DR: The synthesis of epitaxially grown, wurtzite CdSe/CdS core/shell nanocrystals is reported in this paper, where shells of up to three monolayers in thickness were grown on cores ranging in diameter from 23 to 39.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simple model for the ionization potential, electron affinity, and aqueous redox potentials of small semiconductor crystallites
TL;DR: In this article, the photochemical redox potential of one carrier, as a function of the size of the crystal, has been studied in the case of a small number of electrons.
Journal ArticleDOI
Highly Luminescent Monodisperse CdSe and CdSe/ZnS Nanocrystals Synthesized in a Hexadecylamine−Trioctylphosphine Oxide−Trioctylphospine Mixture
TL;DR: In this paper, high monodisperse CdSe nanocrystals were prepared in a three-component hexadecylamine−trioctylphosphine oxide−tricylamine (HDA−TOPO−TOP) mixture, and the room-temperature quantum efficiency of the band edge luminescence was improved by surface passivation with inorganic (ZnS) or organic (alkylamines) shells.

Dynamics of interfacial electron-transfer processes in colloidal semiconductor systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamics of interfacial electron-transfer reactions were studied with colloidal Ti0/sub 2/ and CdS particles, which form transparent aqueous dipersions.
