Abstract
Rational approximations have been derived for the integral of the Arrhenius function $$\int\limits_0^T {\exp ( - E/RT)}$$ dT which is important in the kinetic analysis of thermogravimetric data. The first degree rational approximation is found to be equivalent to the Gorbachev approximation, i.e., RT2 exp (−E/RT)/(E+2RT). The second degree rational approximation is more accurate than the Zsako empirical approximation when E/RT 5. The third and higher degree rational approximations are found to be more accurate than any other previous approximation.

The nature and effects of the thermal stability of lithium hydroxide

TL;DR: In this article, temperature-programmed decomposition and complimentary microscopy/spectroscopy techniques were performed on lithium hydroxide with micron-sized grains and the energy barriers measured for the decomposition of surface and near-surface LiD are noticeably smaller than those of bulk counterpart.

Novel silicon-modified phenolic novolac resins: Non-isothermal curing kinetics, and mechanical and thermal properties of their biofiber-reinforced composites

TL;DR: A silicone-contained biphenol type monomer, 4,4′-(1,3-dipropyl-tetramethyldisiloxane)bis-2-methoxyphenol(SIE), was used to modify phenolic novolac resin by being copolymerized with phenol and formaldehyde to yield SIE-modified phenolic resins (SPNs) as discussed by the authors.

Thermal degradation of glass reinforced epoxy resin and polychloroprene rubber: the correlation of kinetic parameters of isothermal accelerated aging with those obtained from non-isothermal data

TL;DR: The results of a kinetic investigation of the non-isothermal and isothermal degradation of a mechanical property for glass reinforced epoxy resin (GRER) and polychloroprene rubber (PCL-R) are presented in this paper.

A kinetic study of the thermal decomposition process of potassium metabisulfite: Estimation of distributed reactivity model

TL;DR: In this paper, the thermal decomposition kinetics of potassium metabisulfite were studied by thermogravimetric (TG) and differential DTG (DTG) techniques using non-isothermal experiments using the differential (Friedman) isoconversional method.

Kinetic analysis of formation of boron trioxide from thermal decomposition of boric acid under non-isothermal conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the kinetic analysis of the dehydration process of boric acid and its transformation into boron trioxide (B2O3) under non-isothermal conditions at three different heating rates (3, 5 and 10°C min−1) by using thermogravimetry (TG) technique in argon flow.

Empirical formula for the exponential integral in non-isothermal kinetics

TL;DR: The exponential integral of the exponential integral can be approximated by means of the empirical formula, e.g. as mentioned in this paper, which approximates p(x) = - \int\limits_\infty ^x {\frac{{e^{ - u} }}{{u^2 }}} \cdot du\).

Reaction kinetics and differential thermal analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, the relationship between chemical kinetics and differential thermal analysis (DTA) curves is studied for the reactions which follow the general rate expression: r = r/sub 0/e/sup -E/RT/(1 - x).
