Exciton-polariton Bose-Einstein condensation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed recent experiments and corresponding theoretical pictures based on the Gross-Pitaevskii equations and the Boltzmann kinetic simulations for a finite-size BEC of polaritons.

Coherence properties of the microcavity polariton condensate

TL;DR: In this article, the dominant decoherence process in a microcavity polariton condensate is explained by self-phase modulation, whereby interactions transform polariton number fluctuations into random energy variations.

Optically-Excited Polariton Condensates

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the behavior of polariton condensation with the help of high-quality optical microcavities, and concluded with examples of condensates at elevated temperature, polariton systems with special features and superfluidity studies on polaritons.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bose-Einstein condensation of exciton-polaritons

TL;DR: In the last decade, a two-dimensional bosonic system called microcavity exciton-polariton has emerged as a promising candidate of Bose Einstein Condensation (BEC) in solids as mentioned in this paper.

Condensation of Semiconductor Microcavity Exciton Polaritons

TL;DR: A phase transition from a classical thermal mixed state to a quantum-mechanical pure state of exciton polaritons is observed in a GaAs multiple quantum-well microcavity from the decrease of the second-order coherence function.

Polariton lasing vs. photon lasing in a semiconductor microcavity

TL;DR: A series of experimental studies of a polariton laser are presented, exploring its properties as a relatively dense degenerate Bose gas and comparing it to a photon laser achieved in the same structure, finding its properties are similar to those of a normal photon laser.

Quantum degenerate exciton-polaritons in thermal equilibrium.

TL;DR: Above a critical pump level, the thermalization time of polaritons at positive detunings becomes shorter than their lifetime, and the Polaritons form a quantum degenerate Bose-Einstein distribution in thermal equilibrium with the lattice.

Condensation kinetics of microcavity polaritons with scattering by phonons and polaritons

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present numerical studies of the exciton polariton condensation kinetics in microcavities for the combined action of polariton-polariton and polaritonacoustic phonon scattering both for quasi-stationary and picosecond pulse excitation, respectively.
