The sequence determination of a protein in a micro scale: the sequence analysis of ribosomal protein L34 of Escherichia coli.

Robert Chen
- 01 Jun 1976 -
TL;DR: The complete amino acid sequence of ribosomal protein L34 has been established by improved micro techniques with 3 mg of the lyophilized protein by the combined micro dansyl-Edman technique.
Journal ArticleDOI

Primary structure of the bovine beta-crystallin Bp chain. Internal duplication and homology with gamma-crystallin.

TL;DR: The major polypeptide chain of bovine β-crystallin, βBp, was fragmented by means of cyanogen bromide treatment and by enzymatic digestions and manual and automated Edman degradation of the resulting peptides provided the complete amino acid sequence of the 0Bp chain.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bitis gabonica venom. The amino acid sequence of phospholipase A.

TL;DR: Cyanogen bromide cleavage, and tryptic and chymotryptic digests provided the necessary overlapping peptides allowing the derivation of the complete amino acid sequence in Bitis gabonica phospholipase A.
Book ChapterDOI

[6] Thin-layer chromatography of amino acids and derivatives.

TL;DR: The chapter discusses the special requirements for TLC and the importance of careful standardization of the technique, including the following: quality of layer material, layer thickness and homogeneity, layer activation and relative humidity, amount of sample applied, narrow starting point or line, effective drying of the applied sample, quality of solvent (aging), chamber saturation, chamber volume and geometry, temperature.

Human fibrinopeptides. Isolation, characterization and structure.

TL;DR: The structure of human fibrinogen and the specificity of thrombin is discussed, with a focus on the A-, AP- and Y-peptides.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thin-layer chromatography of PTH amino acids

TL;DR: A simple, rapid, and reliable technique for identifying small amounts of phenylthiohydantoin (PTH) derivatives has been developed for use in the analysis by Edman degradation ofsmall amounts of peptides isolated from fingerprints.
