Stability of urine creatinine.

TLDR
The results showed that only prolonged storage time at high temperatures could cause significant decreases in urine creatinine levels, and concluded that in all but extreme cases urine Creatinine is virtually unaffected by storage time and temperature.

Effect of inadequate iodine status in UK pregnant women on cognitive outcomes in their children: results from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC)

TL;DR: The results show the importance of adequate iodine status during early gestation and emphasise the risk that iodine deficiency can pose to the developing infant, even in a country classified as only mildly iodine deficient.
Journal ArticleDOI

Normalization of urinary biomarkers to creatinine during changes in glomerular filtration rate.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the most accurate method to quantify biomarkers requires the collection of timed urine specimens to estimate the actual excretion rate, provided that the biomarker is stable over the period of collection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urine as a biological specimen for forensic analysis of alcohol and variability in the urine-to-blood relationship

TL;DR: The UAC/BAC ratio and the change in UAC between two successive voids can help to resolve whether a large amount of alcohol had recently been consumed and is useful to support or challenge allegations of drinking alcohol after driving, which has become known as the hip-flask defence.

Kidney Function and Damage

TL;DR: This chapter elaborates the biochemistry of kidney functions and diseases, and discusses the general structure of the kidneys and the glomerulus and filtration process in kidney.
Journal ArticleDOI

High urine 1-hydroxypyrene glucuronide concentrations in Linxian, China, an area of high risk for squamous oesophageal cancer

TL;DR: High levels of B[a]P were recently detected in staple food samples from Linxian and histopathologic changes that may be associated with PAH exposure have also been identified in oesophagectomy specimens from the region.

Quantification of nitrite and nitrate in human urine and plasma as pentafluorobenzyl derivatives by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry using their 15N-labelled analogs.

TL;DR: For the quantification of nitrite and nitrate, the stable metabolites of L-arginine-derived nitric oxide (NO) in human urine and plasma, a gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric (GC-MS) method was developed in which [15N]nitrite and [15 N]nitrate were used as internal standards.
Journal ArticleDOI

A procedure increasing the specificity of the Jaffe reaction for the determination of creatine and creatinine in urine and plasma.

TL;DR: Values for creatinine are lower in plasma, but urine values are in general similar to those obtained after treatment with iodine alone, and the present method yields uniformly lower results for creatine in both urine and plasma than those obtaining after iodine treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric determination of chlorophenols in the urine of sawmill workers with past use of chlorophenol-containing anti-stain agents.

TL;DR: The results show that it is unlikely that sawmill workers would be currently occupationally exposed to chlorophenols or polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans via a contaminated work environment.
