Studies on the structure and mechanism of action of glycoside hydrolases
TLDR
The enzyme activity is not stable during heating at pH 4.6 in the presence of serum albumin, and a temperature-dependent conformational change is proposed to account for this finding.About:

Noncellulolytic fungal β-glucanases: Their physiology and regulation
TL;DR: The occurrence, regulation, and action of fungal enzymes capable of degrading noncellulosic β-glucans, especially 1,3-β- and 1,6-β, are reviewed, with some of the properties of purified β- glucanases discussed in terms of their potential applications in industrial, agricultural, and medical fields.
Book ChapterDOI
Degradation of Polymeric Carbohydrates by Microbial Enzymes
TL;DR: Higher animals prepare solid foods for digestion by mastication, grinding and other means of disintegration, while microorganisms must proceed in another manner.

Microbial beta-glucanases different from cellulases.
Stanisław Bielecki,E. Galas +1 more
TL;DR: The role and synergism of different types of 1,3-β-glucanases in microbial cell wall lysis and the potential application for isolation of intracellular materials like proteins, carbohydrates, enzymes and as an analytical tool are discussed in the light of current knowledge.

Cell wall β-d-glucans of five grass species
TL;DR: Structural features of noncellulosic β- d -glucans of Zea mays, Hordeum vulgare, Triticum vulGare, Secale cereale, and Sorghum bicolor were compared and the similarity of the reaction product profiles indicates a rather regular repeating sequence in all β - d - glucans examined.

Purification, characterization, and action-pattern studies on the endo-(1 → 3)-β-d-glucanase from Rhizopus arrhizus QM 1032
TL;DR: The extracellular (1 linked to 3)-beta-D-glucanase produced by Rhizopus arrhizus QU 1032 was purified 305-fold in 70% overall yield and was found to be homogeneous by ultracentrifugation, electrophoresis on acrylamide gel with normal, sodium dodecyl sulfate, and urea-acetic acid gels, and upon isoelectric focusing.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent
TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.

Colorimetric Method for Determination of Sugars and Related Substances
TL;DR: In this article, a method was developed to determine submicro amounts of sugars and related substances using a phenol-sulfuric acid reaction, which is useful for the determination of the composition of polysaccharides and their methyl derivatives.

A photometric adaptation of the somogyi method for the determination of glucose
TL;DR: In this paper, the reliability of the various Somogyi-Shaffer-Hartmann (SHH) copper reagents for glucose determination in biological material has been established, which can be accomplished by omission of the iodide and iodate in their preparation, since these interfere with the molybdate color reagents.

The gel-filtration behaviour of proteins related to their molecular weights over a wide range
TL;DR: Correlation between elution volume, V(e), and molecular weight was investigated for gel filtration of proteins of molecular weights ranging from 3500 (glucagon) to 820000 (alpha-crystallin) on Sephadex G-200 columns at pH7.5.
