TLDR
Binary mixtures of suspended hard-sphere colloidal particles, radius ratio R B /R A =0.58, were observed to undergo entropically driven freezing transitions into both the AB 2 and AB 13 superlattice structures at different relative proportions of the two species.Abstract:
Binary mixtures of suspended hard-sphere colloidal particles, radius ratio ${\mathit{R}}_{\mathit{B}}$/${\mathit{R}}_{\mathit{A}}$=0.58, were observed to undergo entropically driven freezing transitions into both the ${\mathit{AB}}_{2}$ and the ${\mathit{AB}}_{13}$ superlattice structures at different relative proportions of the two species. The structures were identified by powder light crystallography and by electron microscopy of the dried solid phases. An approximate (constant volume) phase diagram containing three eutectics was determined. The results are compared with earlier work at size ratio 0.62.read more

Large core-shell poly(methyl methacrylate) colloidal clusters: synthesis, characterization, and tracking.
TL;DR: A multistep procedure yielding large (diameter > 2 μm) monodisperse, fluorescently labeled core-shell poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) latex particles via dispersion polymerization is presented, which represents a new type of nonspherical colloid that can be dispersed in a density- and refractive index-matching solvent.

Latex Particle Self-Assembly and Particle Microchemical Symmetry: PS/HEMA Latex Particles Are Intrinsic Dipoles
TL;DR: The PS/HEMA particles are intrinsic electrical dipoles (or multipoles), regularly aligned within the macrocrystals as mentioned in this paper, showing that the symmetry of the chemical domains distribution in the particle differs from the overall morphological symmetry.

Strategies for controlling the active layer morphologies in OPVs
TL;DR: In this paper, the evolution of active layer morphologies, as studied by high resolution electron microscopy, X-ray and neutron scattering, and dynamic secondary ion mass spectrometry, along with strategies including the use of small molecule additives, polymer nanowires and polymer nanoparticles, are discussed.

Mixtures of Diblock Copolymer Micelles by Different Mixing Protocols
TL;DR: A size distribution of a binary mixture of polystyrene-block-poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PS-P4VP) diblock copolymer micelles was investigated mainly by transmission electron microscopy and it was demonstrated feasible creation of an ordered array of copolymers with the mixing protocol which produced nonhybridizing micells.

Semiconductor colloids: individual nanocrystals, opals and porous silicon
TL;DR: In this paper, the first steps in controlled self-assembly into opal-like supercrystals have been carried out and the physical size regimes for the evolution of bulk properties are understood in outline form.
