TLDR
In this paper, the evolution of dissolved oxygen in the weld pool as a function of temperature can have a profound influence on the fluid flow and hence on energy transport, and time-dependent changes in oxygen concentration at the surface are observed to flip the surface tension temperature gradient from negative to positive under appropriate shielding conditions.

Effect of Fluid Convection on Dendrite Arm Spacing in Laser Deposition

TL;DR: In this article, a numerical simulation of the laser deposition process is used to obtain values of clad solidification parameters, and the primary dendrite arm spacing and cooling rate of the deposited material were then correlated to these solidification conditions.
