TLDR
In this article, the underlying metal was observed to corrode when a ruthenium dioxide-coated titanium electrode was anodized in an aqueous methanol solution, the rate at a given potential increasing in an approximately linear manner with increasing alcohol concentration.

Pt-CeO2/C anode catalyst for direct methanol fuel cells

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of Pt-CeO 2 /C catalysts with various compositions of ceria were synthesized by wet impregnation method and the physicochemical characterizations of the catalysts were carried out by using Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) surface area and pore size distribution (PSD) measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), XPS and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques.

Catalytic oxidation and flow detection of carbohydrates at ruthenium dioxide modified electrodes.

TL;DR: Electrocatalytic oxidation is described also for related polyhydroxyl compounds (aldonic and aldaric acids and aalditols) and the effects of pH, flow rate, operating potential, surface "loading", concentration, and other variables are explored.

A polynuclear mixed-valent ruthenium oxide/cyanoruthenate composite that yields thin coatings on a glassy carbon electrode with high catalytic activity toward methanol oxidation

TL;DR: In this article, a polynuclear ruthenium oxide/cyanoruthenate films on carbon substrates were grown by cycling the potential between 0.5 and 1.0 V (vs SCE) for 5-90 min in fresh 2 m M RuCl 3 ·3 H 2 O, 2m M K 4 Ru(CN) 6 ·3H 2 O and 0. 5 M KCl solution at pH 2.

Cyclic voltammetry as a technique for determining the surface area of RuO2 electrodes

TL;DR: In this paper, the variation of voltammetric charge with real surface area was investigated for RuO2-coated titanium foils with a view to establishing an electrochemical technique for the estimation of the latter.

Surface Chemistry of Oxides

TL;DR: The chemistry of the surface of oxides depends to a large extent on the quantity and type of both physically and chemically (OH groups) absorbed water as discussed by the authors, and infrared spectroscopy coupled with a variety of chemical exchange processes has provided useful information on the nature and stability of the adsorbed species, and on the interaction of surface hydroxyl groups with adsorbates at the solid/vapour and solid/liquid interfaces.
