The Psychology of the Child

TLDR
In this article, the authors discuss factors in mental development, including the development of perception, concepts, and operations of thought and interpersonal relations, as well as the three levels in the transition from action to operation.

Self-discovery of motor primitives and learning grasp affordances

TL;DR: This study proposes and implements a developmental progression on a robotic system mimicking the aforementioned infant development stages, and shows how further practice allows the robot to learn affordances of more complex objects, which can be further used to make plans to achieve desired goals using the discovered behavior repertoire.

Make or Shake: An Empirical Study of the Value of Making in Learning about Computing Technology

TL;DR: An empirical study that investigated how the process of making affects how children of different ages learn about computing technology found making significantly improved their performance in a post-lesson test, whereas the older children performed equally well in both conditions.
