Effective elastic properties of composites with particles of polyhedral shapes

TL;DR: In this article, contributions of 15 convex polyhedral particle shapes to the overall elastic properties of particle-reinforced composites are predicted using micromechanical homogenization and direct finite element analysis approaches.

Geophysics at the interface: Response of geophysical properties to solid‐fluid, fluid‐fluid, and solid‐solid interfaces

TL;DR: In this article, the sensitivity of measured geophysical properties to solid-fluid interfaces in granular and fractured materials has been analyzed and shown to have a strong dependence on the size and properties of the fluid-fluide interface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lamé parameters of common rocks in the Earth's crust and upper mantle

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the equivalent isotropic elastic data of 475 natural rocks in order to characterize λ values for common types of crystalline rocks in the Earth's crust and upper mantle and their variations with pressure (P), temperature (T), and mineralogical composition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Monte Carlo reservoir analysis combining seismic reflection data and informed priors

TL;DR: In this article, a Markov chain Monte Carlo (McMC) algorithm was used to estimate the porosity and facies of a target reservoir zone from seismic data, which was then represented by a collection offacies and porosity reservoir models, which were samples of the posterior distribution.

Effects of water and supercritical CO2 on the mechanical and elastic properties of Berea sandstone

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of fluid saturation on the elastic and mechanical properties of the Berea sandstone have been assessed under triaxial stress and temperature in the laboratory, and the results indicate that the mechanical behaviour of the rock and its static drained modulus is virtually unaffected by the nature of the saturating fluid.

An introduction to the bootstrap

TL;DR: This article presents bootstrap methods for estimation, using simple arguments, with Minitab macros for implementing these methods, as well as some examples of how these methods could be used for estimation purposes.

Theory of elasticity

TL;DR: The theory of the slipline field is used in this article to solve the problem of stable and non-stressed problems in plane strains in a plane-strain scenario.
