In recent decades, expanding economic activity has been accompanied by growing concerns about climate change, energy security and scarcity of natural resources. The manufacturing is one of the largest sources of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. In this paper, we first definite the concept of green manufacturing, then discuss the importance of improving energy efficiency in the manufacturing sector. Finally, the pathways of transformation to green manufacturing as well as the main greenhouse gas (GHG) reducing technologies are pointed out.read more
