TLDR
In this paper, the expansion instability of a toroidal current ring in low-beta magnetized plasma is investigated, and the results are verified with experiments on spheromak expansion and with essential properties of solar coronal mass ejections.
Abstract
The expansion instability of a toroidal current ring in low-beta magnetized plasma is investigated. Qualitative agreement is obtained with experiments on spheromak expansion and with essential properties of solar coronal mass ejections, unifying the two apparently disparate classes of fast and slow coronal mass ejections.

External reconnection and resultant reconfiguration of overlying magnetic fields during sympathetic eruptions of two filaments

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the physical nature of a sympathetic event involving successive eruptions of two solar filaments on 2015 November 15-16, which presented abundant sympathetic characteristics.

Continuous Null-Point Magnetic Reconnection Builds Up a Torus Unstable Magnetic Flux Rope Triggering the X9.3 Flare in Solar Active Region~12673.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors track the coronal magnetic field evolution via nonlinear force-free field extrapolations from a time sequence of vector magnetograms with high cadence, and they find that a magnetic flux rope (MFR) forms and grows gradually before the first flare, and shortly afterwards, the MFR's growth is significantly enhanced with a much faster rise in height, from far below the threshold of torus instability to above it, while the magnetic twist only increases mildly.

Evolution of Magnetic Helicity During Eruptive Flares and Coronal Mass Ejections

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the twist of an erupting flux rope can be determined from conservation of magnetic flux and magnetic helicity and equipartition of magnetic helicities.

Initiation of CMEs: A review

TL;DR: Several initiation mechanisms and models are discussed in this paper, but no single model/simulation is able to explain all the observations available to date, even for a single event, and thus, no one can predict all the observed observations.

Two-stage Energy Release Process of a Confined Flare with Double HXR Peaks

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present dynamic details about a confined flare observed on the northwestern limb of the solar disk on 2016 July 24, and they conclude that the second stage with the hot and super-hot sources mainly involves direct heating through a loop-loop reconnection at a relatively high altitude in the corona.
