A Generalized Pyrolysis Model for Combustible Solids

TL;DR: In this paper, a generalized model for simulating pyrolysis, gasification, and burning of a wide range of solid fuels encountered in fires is presented, which can be applied to noncharring and charring solids, composites, intumescent coatings and smolder in porous media.

Macroporous 'bubble' graphene film via template-directed ordered-assembly for high rate supercapacitors.

TL;DR: A three-dimensional bubble graphene film, with controllable and uniform macropores and tailorable microstructure, was fabricated by a facile hard templating strategy and exhibit extraordinary electrochemical capacitance with high rate capability.

A review of application of ammonium polyphosphate as intumescent flame retardant in thermoplastic composites

TL;DR: In this article, the application of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) in different types of commodity thermoplastic composites (polyethylene, polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)) have been discussed in terms of mechanical properties, morphologies and thermal properties.

Durability of Fresnel lenses: A review specific to the concentrating photovoltaic application

TL;DR: In this article, a review of the durability of Fresnel lenses used in the concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) application is reviewed from the literature, which primarily concerns monolithic lenses constructed of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), with supplemental examination of silicone-on-glass (SOG) composite lenses.

Kinetics of thermal degradation of char-forming plastics from thermogravimetry. Application to a phenolic plastic

TL;DR: In this article, a technique was devised for obtaining rate laws and kinetic parameters which describe the thermal degradation of plastics from TGA data, based on the inter-comparison of experiments which were performed at different linear rates of heating.
Journal ArticleDOI

General treatment of the thermogravimetry of polymers

TL;DR: It is concluded that methods involving a variable rate of heating or involving several thermogravimetric traces at different rates of heating are capable of establishing the uniqueness of kinetic parameters.

Estimating isothermal life from thermogravimetric data

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a method for estimating equivalent isothermal life from thermogravimetric data and for estimating the apparent activation energy for volatilization even though the nature of the kinetic process is unknown.
