Toxicity of methyl linoleate ozonide in the rat.

TLDR
Data show that the main target organ for ozonides is the lung, and that the effects caused by MLO in vivo are in many respects similar to the effects found after acute ozone exposure, which supports the working hypothesis that ozonide may play a role in ozone-induced lung toxicity.

Ozone-induced alterations in glutathione in lung subcompartments of rats and monkeys.

TL;DR: Glutathione levels in target and nontarget areas of the lung and in susceptible versus less susceptible species are not the primary determinant in the differences observed in ozone toxicity; the response of lung subcompartments to short-term ozone exposure varied depending on airway subcompartment and species.

Chemical and thermochemical aspects of the ozonolysis of ethyl oleate: decomposition enthalpy of ethyl oleate ozonide.

TL;DR: A specific thermochemical calculation has been made to determine the theoretical heat of the ozonization reaction using the group increment approach and it is shown that the decomposition enthalpy of ozonized ethyl oleate is a constant value at any stage of the O3/C=C once an adequate normalization of the decompositions ent Halpy for the amount of the adsorbed ozone is taken into consideration.

Protective effect of antioxidant vitamins on red blood cell lipoperoxidation induced by SO2 inhalation.

TL;DR: SO2 inhalation resulted in higher MDA levels and osmotic fragility ratios, which can be reduced by vitamin E + C combination, which were significantly higher in the SO2-treated group.

Thermal decomposition of phospholipid secondary ozonides: Implications for the toxicity of inhaled ozone

TL;DR: In this paper, the first kinetic studies of the thermal decomposition of the cis and trans secondary ozonides of 1-palmitoyl 2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (POPC), a phospholipid found in significant quantities in lung surfactant, were reported.

Multiphase Ozonolysis of Oleic Acid-Based Lipids: Quantitation of Major Products and Kinetic Multilayer Modeling.

TL;DR: In this article , the gas surface ozonolysis of three oleic acid-based compounds was studied in a reactor and indoors under dry conditions, quantitative product analyses by 1H NMR indicate up to 79% molar yield of stable secondary ozonides (SOZs) in oxidized triolein and methyl oleate coatings.

A rapid and sensitive method for the quantitation of microgram quantities of protein utilizing the principle of protein-dye binding

TL;DR: This assay is very reproducible and rapid with the dye binding process virtually complete in approximately 2 min with good color stability for 1 hr with little or no interference from cations such as sodium or potassium nor from carbohydrates such as sucrose.

Glutathione S-transferases. The first enzymatic step in mercapturic acid formation.

TL;DR: The purification of homogeneous glutathione S-transferases B and C from rat liver is described, and only transferases A and C are immunologically related.

Microsomal lipid peroxidation.

TL;DR: This chapter discusses microsomal lipid peroxidation, a complex process known to occur in both plants and animals that involves the formation and propagation of lipid radicals, the uptake of oxygen, a rearrangement of the double bonds in unsaturated lipids, and the eventual destruction of membrane lipids.

Estimation of total, protein-bound, and nonprotein sulfhydryl groups in tissue with Ellman's reagent

TL;DR: A simple spectrophotometric method for the routine concomitant determination of sulfhydryl groups in PB- SH, NP-SH, and T-SH fractions in various tissues is reported.
