TLDR
In this article, flash photolysis of aqueous solutions of protoporphyrin IX at pH values below 2 results in strong triplet state absorptions while at any higher pH, including physiologically relevant values, no triplet states formation can be detected.Abstract:

The photochemistry of haematoporphyrin and related systems.
R. Pottier,T. G. Truscott +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the photochemistry of Haematoporphyrin and related systems is discussed. But the authors focus on the photochemical properties of the system and do not discuss the photodynamic properties of its properties.

Type i and type ii mechanisms in the photooxidation of l-tryptophan and tryptamine sensitized by hematoporphyrin in the presence and absence of sodium dodecyl sulphate micelles
TL;DR: Oxygenated aqueous solutions of L‐tryptophan or tryptamine containing hematopor‐phyrin and/or specific quenchers of the possible reactive intermediates were irradiated with visible light in the presence and in the absence of dispersions of sodium dodecyl sulphate micelles.

Optical fiber-based setup for in vivo measurement of the delayed fluorescence lifetime of oxygen sensors
Filippo M. Piffaretti,Kanappan Santhakumar,Eddy Forte,Hubert van den Bergh,Georges Wagnières +4 more
TL;DR: A new optical-fiber-based spectrofluorometer for in vivo or in vitro detection of delayed fluorescence and spectral and temporal resolution, as well as its sensitivity, is presented and measurement examples are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Attempts to measure sensitiser photophysics in opaque tissue
TL;DR: Diffuse reflectance laser flash photolysis has been used in an attempt to measure transient triplet spectra of the sensitisers, disulphonated aluminium phthalocyanine and porphyrin IX, in opaque tissue and models providing some encouragement in the application of this technique to in vivo studies on photosensitisers.

Laser pump-probe experiments on microsecond to millisecond timescales at an electrostatic ion storage ring: Triplet—Triplet absorption by protoporphyrin-IX anions
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that pump-probe experiments can be carried out on microsecond to millisecond timescales using an electrostatic ion storage ring and that it is possible to pick out ions that were photoexcited by the pump pulse and to spectroscopically characterize these ions.
