Imbibition and flow of common solvents in chromatography paper

TL;DR: In this paper, the properties of a commercial chromatography paper (Whatman No. 4) were studied with water and nine organic fluids, and it was shown that, the more polar the fluid, the smaller the resistance to flow offered by the paper.

Wetting dynamics in an angular channel

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the dynamics of liquid filling in a thin, slightly inflated rectangular channel driven by capillary forces and showed that although the amount of liquid $m$ in the channel increases in time following the classical Lucas-Washburn law, the prefactor is very sensitive to the deformation of the channel.

Water imbibition and water sealing in water-driven gas reservoirs development

TL;DR: In this article , a study is carried out based on development simulation experiments and theoretical analysis of fluid mechanics to improve the poor understanding of the mechanism of spontaneous water imbibition in water invasion in gas reservoirs and overcome the difficulty in quantifying imbibed water and its impact on reservoir development.

Absorption-induced Deformations of Nanofiber Yarns and Nanofibrous Webs

TL;DR: In this paper, a physical basis for analyses of absorption processes in nanotubular and nanofibrous materials is provided. But the analysis of the absorption process is limited: one hundred micron droplets disappear in milliseconds.
