Unconventional domain band structure at the crack tip in ferroelectric ceramics

TLDR
In this article, the authors have shown that the domain band structure in front of an indentation crack under lateral electric loading is unconventional, attributed to the highly localizing crack tip electric field.

Toughening under non-uniform ferro-elastic domain switching

TL;DR: In this article, an evolution law for the volume fraction of the switched portion under applied electromechanical loading is established from the minimum energy principle, and a switching model capable of dealing with the non-uniform distribution of switching strain is developed.

In situ observation of electric-field-induced domain switching and crack propagation in poled PMNT62/38 single crystals

TL;DR: In this article, the authors in situ observed the crack propagation and the domain switching in PMNT62/38 single crystals poled along the [001] orientation, and the results indicated that the structure mismatch of the adjacent switched zones with different polarizations stimulated by the intensive electric field near the crack tip results in the electric-field-induced crack growth.

Control of mechanical response of freestanding PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 films through texture

TL;DR: In this paper, the texture of piezoelectric lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films was tuned using a highly {111}-textured Pt substrate and excess-Pb in the PbTiO3 seed layer.

Interplay between Fracture and Domain Switching of Ferroelectrics

TL;DR: In this paper, a large scale switching model is proposed to deal with load-induced domains witching in experiment and theoretical predictions and experimental data roughly coincide for crack initiation, propagation and stability phenomena.

Domain Formation and Domain Wall Motions in Ferroelectric BaTi O 3 Single Crystals

TL;DR: In this paper, the nucleation and growth of ferroelectric domains in barium titanate have been studied as a function of applied electric field and temperature, and experiments were made on thin single-crystal plates normal to $c$ the polar direction.

Twinning in ferroelectric and ferroelastic ceramics: stress relief

TL;DR: In this article, a semi-quantitative model is developed with the example of BaTiO3 ceramic, of which the domain patterns are well known. But this model is restricted to two dimensions only.
