TLDR
In this paper, a study of the relationship between values and environmental attitudes in six countries: Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany, India, New Zealand, and Russia, was conducted.
Abstract
Recent research has examined the relationship between values and attitudes about environmental issues. Findings from these studies have found values of self-transcendence (positively) and self-enhancement (negatively) to predict general concern for environmental problems. Other recent findings have differentiated between environmental attitudes based on concern for self (egoistic), concern for other people (socialaltruistic), and concern for plants and animals (biospheric). This article reports the results from a study of the relationship between values and environmental attitudes in six countries: Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany, India, New Zealand, and Russia. Results show strong support for the cross-cultural generalizability of the relationship between values and attitudes and on the structure of environmental concern. In addition, analyses of the relationship between values and environmental behavior show evidence for norm activation only for self-transcendence; results for self-enhancement show a consistently negative relationship.

Psychological determinants of attitude towards and willingness to pay for green electricity

TL;DR: In this article, the results of a mail survey of 855 Swedish household consumers showed that willingness to pay for green electricity increased with a positive attitude towards green electricity and decreased with electricity costs.

Behavioural factors affecting the adoption of sustainable farming practices: a policy-oriented review

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review the findings from the last 20 years on the behavioural factors that influence farmers' decisions to adopt environmentally sustainable practices and propose policy options to increase adoption, based on these behavioural factors and embedded in the EU Common Agricultural Policy.

Relationships between value orientations, self-determined motivational types and pro-environmental behavioural intentions

TL;DR: This paper examined the predictive power of egoistic, altruistic and biospheric value orientations and six types of self-determined motivations (i.e. intrinsic motivation, integrated regulation, identified regulation, introjected regulation, external regulation, and amotivation) toward acting proenvironmentally for explaining two types of pro-environmental intentions.

The relationships between awareness of consequences, environmental concern, and value orientations.

TL;DR: In this article, a survey of 494 Swedish residents between 18 and 69 years old found empirical support that egoistic, social-altruistic, and biospheric environmental concerns are related to corresponding awareness-of-consequences beliefs and that both the beliefs and environmental concerns were related to the three value types power, benevolence, and universalism.

TL;DR: In this article, multiple regression is used to test and interpret multiple regression interactions in the context of multiple-agent networks. But it is not suitable for single-agent systems, as discussed in this paper.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a theory of potentially universal aspects in the content of human values, and present a new values instrument, based on the theory and suitable for cross-cultural research.
