Combined removal of BTEX in air stream by using mixture of sugar cane bagasse, compost and GAC as biofilter media.
TL;DR: The results indicate that when the influent BTEX loadings were less than 68 gm(-3)h(-1) in the biofilter, nearly 100% removal could be achieved, which is quite significance than the values reported in the literature.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficiency of nitrification in trickling filters using different filter media.
Odd-Ivar Lekang,Helge Kleppe +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, three sizes of crushed Leca and three types of plastic media (Kaldnes rings, Norton rings, and a rolled mat of Finturf artificial grass) were tested in columns 1.5 m high and 11 cm in diameter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microalgae Harvesting Methods for Industrial Production of Biodiesel:Critical Review and Comparative Analysis
TL;DR: In this paper, the most efficient and economically viable dewatering methods for large scale processing of microalgae biomass were evaluated. And the results indicated that of the 16 methods evaluated, 4 scored values of 80/100 and above and were deemed suitable for harvesting micro algae on an industrial scale, while the other methods were deemed unsuitable because they are not effective in dewering a wide array of micro algae species, not suited for large volumes, costly and require high maintenance.

Urban Wastewater Management in the United States: Past, Present, and Future
TL;DR: In this article, the past, present, and future of urban wastewater management in the United States are discussed, with a focus on the past and present of urban water management in urban areas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sand filtration of wastewater for tertiary treatment and water reuse
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of rapid sand filters was evaluated in three tertiary wastewater treatment plants in the State of Kuwait, and the results indicated significant improvements, at 95% and 99% significance levels, in solids (SS, VSS) and organics (BOD, COD) removal by sand filtration.
