Evaluating the potential for bio-fuel upgrading: A comprehensive analysis of bio-crude and bio-residue from hydrothermal liquefaction of agricultural biomass

TL;DR: In this paper, three different solvents were used to extract bio-crude from a hydrothermal liquefaction product mixture obtained from canola meal and waste wheat flour.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biodegradation of a surrogate naphthenic acid under denitrifying conditions.

TL;DR: Anoxic biodegradation of trans-4-methyl-1-cyclohexane carboxylic acid coupled to denitrification was investigated as a potential ex situ approach for the treatment of oil sand process waters in bioreactors whereby excessive aeration cost could be eliminated and as an in situ alternative for the Treatment of these waters in anoxic stabilization ponds amended with nitrate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kinetics of hydrodesulfurization of heavy gas oil derived from oil-sands bitumen

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of various process variables such as temperature, liquid hourly space velocity and hydrogen/heavy gas oil volumetric ratio on the removal of sulfur compounds from oil sands derived heavy gas oil has been studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Co-gasification of petroleum coke with lignite coal using fluidized bed gasifier

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of feed ratio, equivalence ratio and average particle size on the syngas production by means of co-gasification of petroleum coke with lignite coal in a stainless steel pilot scale fluidized bed gasifier with an inside diameter of 7 cm at 800 °C were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogen generation via supercritical water gasification of lignin using Ni‐Co/Mg‐Al catalysts

TL;DR: In this paper, a group of Ni-Co/Mg-Al catalysts was prepared for hydrogen production via supercritical water gasification of lignin, and the effects of different supports and preparation methods were examined.
