Journal ArticleDOI

Heterocycles in organic synthesis. Part 6. Nucleophilic displacements of primary amino-groups via 2,4,6-triphenylpyridinium salts

TL;DR: Benzylamine and 2-, 3-, and 4-pyridylmethylamine are readily converted into the corresponding 1-substituted 2,4,6-triphenylpyrinium cations, from which a variety of nucleophiles are displaced in high yield.
Journal ArticleDOI

Syntheses of 5-(2-arylazenyl)-1,2,4-triazoles and 2-amino-5-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles

TL;DR: Di(benzotriazolyl)methanimine 1 was used for convenient preparation of previously unknown triazoles 11a,b and 15a-d and as a new reagent for the synthesis of oxadiazoles 17a-j as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Novel syntheses of pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-2-ones, 2H-quinolizin-2-ones, pyrido[1,2-a]quinolin-3-ones, and thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-7-ones

TL;DR: Extension of this methodology to other fused ring systems has provided 1-alkyl- and 1-arylpyrido(1,2-a)quinolin- 3-ones 20a,b (40%) and 5-phenylthiazolo(3,2,a)pyrimidin-7-one (22) (54%) in moderate yields.
