TL;DR: This paper presents sequence data and analysis of 142 EBOV samples collected during the period March to October 2015 and shows that real-time genomic surveillance is possible in resource-limited settings and can be established rapidly to monitor outbreaks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting infectious severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 from diagnostic samples

TL;DR: SARS-CoV-2 Vero cell infectivity was only observed for RT-PCR Ct < 24 and STT < 8 days, suggesting Infectivity of patients with Ct >24 and duration of symptoms >8 days may be low.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reversion of advanced Ebola virus disease in nonhuman primates with ZMapp
Xiangguo Qiu,Gary Wong,Jonathan Audet,Alexander Bello,Lisa Fernando,Judie B. Alimonti,Hugues Fausther-Bovendo,Haiyan Wei,Jenna Aviles,Ernie Hiatt,Ashley K. Johnson,Josh Morton,Kelsi Swope,Ognian Bohorov,Natasha Bohorova,Charles Goodman,Do Jin Kim,Michael H. Pauly,Jesus Velasco,James Pettitt,Gene G. Olinger,Kevin J. Whaley,Bianli Xu,James E. Strong,Larry Zeitlin,Gary P. Kobinger +25 more
TL;DR: It is shown that a combination of monoclonal antibodies (ZMapp), optimized from two previous antibody cocktails, is able to rescue 100% of rhesus macaques when treatment is initiated up to 5 days post-challenge, and ZMapp exceeds the efficacy of any other therapeutics described so far.
Journal ArticleDOI
Successful Treatment of Ebola Virus–Infected Cynomolgus Macaques with Monoclonal Antibodies
Xiangguo Qiu,Jonathan Audet,Gary Wong,Stéphane Pillet,Alexander Bello,Teresa Cabral,Jim Strong,Frank Plummer,Cindy R. Corbett,Cindy R. Corbett,Judie B. Alimonti,Judie B. Alimonti,Gary P. Kobinger,Gary P. Kobinger +13 more
TL;DR: The present work shows that a combination of three neutralizing monoclonal antibodies directed against the Ebola envelope glycoprotein (GP) resulted in complete survival (four of four cynomolgus macaques) with no apparent side effects when three doses were administered 3 days apart beginning at 24 hours after a lethal challenge with EBOV.
Journal ArticleDOI
mAbs and Ad-Vectored IFN-α Therapy Rescue Ebola-Infected Nonhuman Primates When Administered After the Detection of Viremia and Symptoms
Xiangguo Qiu,Gary Wong,Gary Wong,Lisa Fernando,Jonathan Audet,Jonathan Audet,Alexander Bello,Alexander Bello,Jim Strong,Judie B. Alimonti,Judie B. Alimonti,Gary P. Kobinger +11 more
TL;DR: Conditions capable of saving 100% of EBOV-infected NHPs when initiated after the presence of detectable viremia along with symptoms are described, suggesting that the Ad-IFN and ZMAb combination treatment could be effective after confirmation of E BOV infection as well as could substantially reduce mortality rates of cases diagnosed early after symptom onset.
