Real-time, portable genome sequencing for Ebola surveillance

Joshua Quick, +106 more
- 11 Feb 2016 -
TL;DR: This paper presents sequence data and analysis of 142 EBOV samples collected during the period March to October 2015 and shows that real-time genomic surveillance is possible in resource-limited settings and can be established rapidly to monitor outbreaks.
Journal ArticleDOI

Successful Treatment of Ebola Virus–Infected Cynomolgus Macaques with Monoclonal Antibodies

TL;DR: The present work shows that a combination of three neutralizing monoclonal antibodies directed against the Ebola envelope glycoprotein (GP) resulted in complete survival (four of four cynomolgus macaques) with no apparent side effects when three doses were administered 3 days apart beginning at 24 hours after a lethal challenge with EBOV.

mAbs and Ad-Vectored IFN-α Therapy Rescue Ebola-Infected Nonhuman Primates When Administered After the Detection of Viremia and Symptoms

TL;DR: Conditions capable of saving 100% of EBOV-infected NHPs when initiated after the presence of detectable viremia along with symptoms are described, suggesting that the Ad-IFN and ZMAb combination treatment could be effective after confirmation of E BOV infection as well as could substantially reduce mortality rates of cases diagnosed early after symptom onset.
