Journal ArticleDOI

The global distribution of tetrapods reveals a need for targeted reptile conservation

TL;DR: It is shown that additional conservation actions are needed to effectively protect reptiles, particularly lizards and turtles, and that adding reptile knowledge to a global complementarity conservation priority scheme identifies many locations that consequently become important.
Journal ArticleDOI

Body sizes and diversification rates of lizards, snakes, amphisbaenians and the tuatara

TL;DR: Despite a clear modality and skew in the body sizes of lepidosaurs, the relationship between diversification rates and body size is investigated, finding little evidence for faster diversification of modal-sized taxa, perhaps implying that larger-sized clades are relatively young.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coral snakes predict the evolution of mimicry across New World snakes.

TL;DR: This work integrates distributional, phenotypic and phylogenetic data across all New World snake species to demonstrate that shifts to mimetic coloration in nonvenomous snakes are highly correlated with coral snakes in both space and time, providing overwhelming support for Batesian mimicry.
