Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of the components of the insulin-like growth factors system in GH-deficient adults: effects of twelve-month rhGH treatment.
Emanuele Ferrante,Claudia Giavoli,S. Porretti,E. Vassallo,Cristina L. Ronchi,Andrea Lania,Paolo Beck-Peccoz,Anna Spada +7 more
TL;DR: The increase of serum IGF-II levels during rhGH treatment in GHD patients probably reflects the increase in the other components of ternary complex (ALS and IGFBP-3), however, serum IGFs system levels were definitely lower than in controls and may further confirm the safety of rhGH replacement in adults with severe GHD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acromegaly secondary to an incidentally discovered growth-hormone-releasing hormone secreting bronchial carcinoid tumour associated to a pituitary incidentaloma.
Elisa Verrua,Cristina L. Ronchi,Emanuele Ferrante,Daniela Ferrari,Silvia Bergamaschi,Stefano Ferrero,Maria Chiara Zatelli,V. Branca,Anna Spada,Paolo Beck-Peccoz,Andrea Lania +10 more
TL;DR: The opportunity of considering the uncommon causes of chronic GH-excess in the initial diagnostic process, such as GHRH hypersecretion, especially in the presence of ambiguous pituitary neuroimaging, is emphasized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Somatomammotrophic cells in GH-secreting and PRL-secreting human pituitary adenomas.
TL;DR: The fact that somatomammotrophs have been found in normal pituitaries and were lacking in some tumors would suggest that in tumors these cells might originate from their normal cellular counterparts and not be a consequence of the tumoral process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spine Bone Texture Assessed by Trabecular Bone Score in Active and Controlled Acromegaly: A Prospective Study.
Elisa Sala,Elena Malchiodi,Elena Malchiodi,Giulia Carosi,Giulia Carosi,Elisa Verrua,Elisa Cairoli,Emanuele Ferrante,Marcello Filopanti,Cristina Eller-Vainicher,Fabio Massimo Ulivieri,Anna Spada,Maura Arosio,Maura Arosio,Iacopo Chiodini,Giovanna Mantovani,Giovanna Mantovani +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe bone quality in acromegaly, measured by trabecular bone score (TBS), a noninvasive index for assessing bone microarchitecture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Different expression of protein kinase A (PKA) regulatory subunits in normal and neoplastic thyroid tissues.
Stefano Ferrero,Valentina Vaira,Alessandro Del Gobbo,Leonardo Vicentini,Silvano Bosari,Paolo Beck-Peccoz,Giovanna Mantovani,Anna Spada,Andrea Lania +8 more
TL;DR: Examination of the expression of different PKA regulatory subunits in benign and non benign human thyroid tumours shows that an increased PRKAR1A expression is associated with aggressive and undifferentiated thyroid tumors.
